This week we are featuring another employee – Krista King! Krista works in Sales Operations as a Lead Coordinator Specialist and has been with the company for just a few months! Read through what she had to say about her current wellness journey in our question and answer session.

What is your motivation in your wellness journey?

First, I found that after having my son Jackson 2 ½ years ago I was making fewer healthy choices. I wasn’t staying hydrated and I was eating whatever a toddler eats which is not ideal for a grown adult. I began to feel sluggish and fatigued and knew it was because I wasn’t taking care of my body. I decided to adopt a large breed puppy, with the knowledge that he would need to go on runs as he got bigger. That was the final step for me in pushing myself to really change my nutrition and gym routine in order to stay healthy for my family.

What is your weekly exercise routine?

I try to get in the gym 5 times a week, but sometimes depending on whatever else in my life needs attention, it ends up only being 4 times a week. I like to do strength training 2-3 times a week and work on cardio and endurance twice a week.

What has been the best part of this journey?

The best part is that I have more energy and can feel my endurance building each time I run.

What do you find is a daily struggle?

For me the biggest daily struggle is dinner. My family has different preferences for their personal nutrition! It can be difficult to make sure you’re providing a meal that suites the picky eaters at the table while also maintaining your personal nutrition needs.

What is your favorite part about exercise?

My favorite part of exercise must be that after a strenuous workout, I can literally feel the nourishment my body gets from a balanced meal!

Where are you currently seeing success?

Currently I am seeing success in the form of cardio endurance as well as my commitment to a balanced diet.

What are you the most proud of?

I am proud that I have stuck with my goal to create an overall healthier lifestyle and that I can really feel the results.

If someone wanted to start their own journey – how would you encourage them?

I would say, to find something to work for. If you want to lose “X” amount of pounds, ask yourself why. If you want to look a certain way, ask yourself why. Wanting something to change is easy but finding your “why” will be the motivation to make it happen in your life.
