Award purpose – This annual award is given to an individual that represents exactly what the DIG Wellness team is about – mind, body, and soul. A person who has transformed their life mentally, physically/nutritionally, and spiritually throughout the year!

Before presenting this award at the luncheon, I asked Bhavik to answer some questions about his journey over the last year so that through this blog – you can learn more about the journey he has been on!

Bhavik in 2019…..…. and now Bhavik in 2022!

What was the deciding factor in making a decision to change your health?

My health journey started back in 2019 when I first came to FD, and I was 222 lb. I was overweight and way out of shape. I was always ready for some junk food even though I’m a vegetarian.

How have you seen positive changes in your overall health?

I don’t exhaust myself as easily as I did before when playing outdoor sports. I have gained some self-confidence which helps me to participate in more activities and build a good and healthy network. I now actively try to engage with people compared to before when I was looking for a corner in public meetings. I also stay more active at work.

Was there something you never thought you could do, but now you are able to do it?

I never thought that I would be able to bench over 150lb, run/walk straight for 45 min (3.75 miles), do a single pull up without help. I also never thought that I would start my day thinking about my lunch workout instead of the lunch/dinner menu!

How much weight have you lost overall?

Back in October of 2019, I was about 222 lbs. I started working out with a co-worker and during that time lost about 5-6 lbs. Then in 2021, I started the 2020 year with the DWC program Transform2020 and lost about 8-9 lbs. From those two specific times I have just continued working hard throughout 2021 and am now at 191 lbs!

Do you know how many sizes you have dropped since the start of your journey?

I have dropped about two sizes going from a XL to a Medium.

What do you think has changed the most about your new lifestyle?

Even though I have been a vegetarian my entire life, I was still not eating a lot of healthy food. With the new lifestyle it has really helped with my diet so much that I prefer to eat a lot of healthier options now compared to always wanting the deep-fried food.

Do you have big goals for 2022?

My initial goal when I was at 222lb was to get under 180lb, but after my more recent results, I now have changed my long-term goal to get near 170lb.

When it comes to the DWC do you have a favorite workout class?

My favorite workout class is definitely Metabolic Burn with Chaka. (Insert from Haley* This class is now called HIIT Strength (Wed) and HIIT Cardio (Mon).

If someone wanted to start a transformation journey for 2022, what would you say to them?

I would say that it is never too late for a small change in your daily life routine to achieve big changes in future!

Anything else you want to share?

I really want to share my experience with workouts and positivity that Patrick Walker brought with his workouts. Initially it all started with a self-made work name BUDDYWORKOUT by Patrick for 15 min where 7 people in group started to join him and gained some positive momentum. When covid hit, we started with BeachBody workouts T25 provided by the DIG Wellness Center every day at lunch and saw some good cardio results. Patrick helped me get better with the forms and staying away from injuries and ended up with daily muscle building exercise with a little touch of cardio every day. I also play volleyball every other week which allows me to workout more and more every day.
