We are now in the 11th month of the year… wow, where has time gone? Thanksgiving is only four short weeks away, and as we enter the holiday season, I will be posting tips to stay happy and healthy during this time of year. Food, family, and friends will be in abundance these next two months, and it’s up to you to balance them all. But before we take on anything else, let’s look at what produce will be in season this month.

Apples
Firm with no soft spots

Broccoli
Dark green bunches

Brussels Sprouts
Tight outer leaves, bright green color, and firm body

Cauliflower
Bright green leaves enclosing firm and closely packed white curd

Coconuts
Good weight for size with inside milk still fluid

Cranberries
Firm, plump, and brightly colored

Grapefruit
Firm, well rounded, and heavy for size; avoid puffy/rough skinned

Orange
Firm, heavy for size, and has brightly colored skin

Pear
Yields gently to pressure at stem end

Pomegranate
Thin-skinned and bright purple-red

Sweet Potato
Firm, dark, and smooth
