As most of you can feel, the hotter months are here, and school is almost out for the summer! While we want to enjoy the nice warm weather outside, we must also make sure that we take care of our personal health when it comes to the heat! Let’s look at what dehydration is and how we can prevent it for ourselves and our loved ones.
Dehydration occurs when the body loses more fluids than it takes in or when the body does not have enough fluids to carry out its normal functions. It is vital for safety to hydrate as the temperatures and humidity increase in your area. Being able to recognize signs and symptoms of dehydration is the first step toward protecting yourself! Be proactive, stay hydrated, and seek medical help if symptoms persist.

Are drinks like Gatorade equivalent to water for hydration? Or is water actually best?
The sports drinks are great for the electrolytes, carbs from sugars, and easier to drink more of due to the taste … so they do hydrate you. However, water is straight water and overall going to be a better cleaner source of true hydration for your body.
