Are you finding that you need to give yourself a little more grace? What about self compassion?
During this new season – I have found that I am striving to grow in ways I didn’t know I needed pre-pandemic. There is something about spending time alone, reflecting on the past, and having extra time with family members who know your weaknesses! The more I learn about myself and the way I influence others, I have also discovered that I need to work on growing in my own love for self and the grace I provide to myself. Similar to the concept of an empty cup compared to a filled cup… if I struggle to show love for self and provide grace to myself… I am not able to do either of those things to the full extent with others.
Ideally we all want to love others and demonstrate grace when needed. Can you say you do this well? I know personally I can always do a better job in both areas, but I also understand I need to start with myself and allow that to overflow in my influence/connection with others.
Below I am providing a video of a dear friend of mine. These are two very simple self compassion practices that I have added to my daily routine. You may find after watching the video, you do one of these two practices already. My encouragement to you would be to spend five minutes, think through the practices and consider incorporating one of them into your day, perhaps more than you currently already do. It is not necessarily something to add to your checklist of things to do in a day, but perhaps a way of being throughout the day.
