Needing some ideas to spice up your salad game? I would love to help with a few fun tips that I use to change my salad up!

Go green! Get started with a bed of greens. Don’t be afraid to mix things up or try new greens. Use kale, spinach, romaine, arugula, butter leaf lettuce, shaved Brussels sprouts, or a mix of greens!

Add a protein. Get in your protein by adding chicken, fish, shrimp, or steak. Feeling adventurous – add hard boiled or scrambled eggs, tofu, or sardines.

Needing a little extra, add a grain. Bulk up your salad by adding your favorite grains. Pasta, quinoa, and wild rice are all good options.

Needing more texture, add some crunch. Top your salads with croutons, nuts, pita chips, or tortilla strips. Cucumbers, bell peppers, cauliflower, and other fresh veggies also add a nice crunch as well.

Try adding some fruit. Sweeten up your salad with fresh or dried fruit. Add in an apple or a pear. Try some berries (raspberries, strawberries, blueberries, and blackberries) or watermelon! For dried fruit, look into cranberries, cherries, or golden raisins.

Serve your veggies in various ways as toppings. Try out some roasted, grilled, or pickled veggies to add an extra flavor to your salad.

Consider fresh herbs. These can add so much flavor! Mix in fresh basil, mint, chives, rosemary, cilantro, or dill.

More ideas! Try avocado slices, crumbled goat cheese or feta cheese, a dollop of hummus or guacamole. How about a scoop of cottage cheese!?

How to dress it up... A good salad dressing is key! A few of my go-to’s include balsamic vinaigrette, Italian dressing, and creamy cilantro lime dressing. Wanting something new – try oil and vinegar, or a squeeze or lemon or lime juice!

And…Salsa. Fresh salsa can add a lot of flavor. Sometimes, I use salsa as a dressing instead! Try your favorite salsa or branch out with mango salsa or pineapple salsa!

Don’t be afraid to play around with your salads! Make sure you mix things up regularly!
