If you haven’t heard yet – this month we are focusing on getting extra STEPS in whether that is walking, jogging, running, or skipping.

If working out is not your favorite thing, walking is a great way to get in your weekly cardio exercise. Walking gets your blood flowing, strengthens your muscles, and helps your body burn fat. Here are several more perks of walking daily!

Scheduling freedom – No need to sign up for any sort of class and your DWC gym doesn’t close! You can literally walk anywhere – inside, outside, at the gym, around the mall, or in your neighborhood.

Weight loss – Paired with a healthy diet, the more you walk, the more inches or pounds you can lose.

No personal trainer needed – Everyone knows how to walk; you simply put on your shoes and get moving. This removes the feeling of not knowing what to do or how to use certain equipment.

Promotes a healthy family – Get your whole family moving and creating memories. The healthier you are, the healthier your family tends to be.

Adjustable – Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned walker, you can add hand weights, increase your pace, or additional exercises at stopping points during your walk. You can walk a different path every day and not get bored!

Personal – You can enjoy the type of walk you want. A quiet nature walk or a walk with a talkative friend beside you. Listening to your favorite podcast or getting in a time of worship, walking can be personalized.
